I installed Leopard a couple weeks ago and all has been working fine with Firefly until last night…
I decided to update to the latest nightly as I’d not updated my Firefly install in a long, long time. So I downloaded the latest nightly and installed it. Now, when I start the server, it never completes starting. I literally let it run overnight and it never starts.
I’ve had some permissions problems with my migration to Leopard but I’ve gone in and made sure that everyone has r/w access to anything to do with Firefly (in /Library/PreferencePanes and in ~/Library/ApplicationSupport/Firefly).
It never finishes starting. Here’s a copy of my log file…

Yeah, the bonjour part isn’t working right for some reason. Haven’t gotten a chance to look closely at it though. Not sure exactly what’s up with it.

So what’s a good build to use instead?

The 1.1 beta sticked on the roku thread seems to work:
http://forums.rokulabs.com, in the firefly forum. I haven’t tested 1586 yet, but I suspect it probably works. I think there is something wrong with my build machine, though, because the bonjour works on one I’ve built locally on a leopard machine, so something is screwy.
Just haven’t run it down yet.

17/11/2007 at 7:31 PM #14337swede1022GuestI installed build 1586. I started firefly, and the Preferences box still shows it as “Firefly is starting” but the server appears to have started – it read my iTunes directory and a brand new playlist and is playing fine on my SoundBridge M1000.
OS X Leopard 10.5.1

I think I’ve got the fix in svn. At least, it’s working on mine now. Hopefully next version will be good.

When will it make it to the “nightlies” site?

As soon as it compiles again. I’ve broke it a bit working on playlists… Hoped to have it done by the weekend, but not quite there yet.

Do you have this fix in yet? My Soundbridges don’t even see Firefly even though it’s “running.”
