I set up a new FF server (osx/1586/sqlite3) that works fine with the Roku & iTunes. With FirePlay, any selected track only buffers a quarter of the way then dies. The track plays fine up until that point.
Any suggestions?
Sounds like a typical memory issue. What device are you running FirePlay on?

Maybe I got it all wrong. Do I need iTunes to use FirePlay? I have never used iTunes so i’m not familar to DAAP-codes, rsp and iTunes library. I’m also new to Windows Home Server. Now I’m locking for a program that will stream my mp3 files over the Internet. I found the FirePlay and it seems to be a nice tool. But it will not work for me.
I’ve installed Bonjour, FireFly (svn1696) and have put the FirePlay files into the admin-root of the installation folder for Firefly. The firefly server is up and running on port 9999. I have configure the config file with an password and pointed it to the shared folder for music where I have put a few records for test.
The config file of Firefly have found my 22 songs. But when I connect to the FirePlay it’s not listing any songs. I can also see that I’m connected to http://server:9999. After a few hour trying to figure it out I downloaded and installed iTunes. Immediately it recognize the Firefly Media Server and it’s content.
What am I doing wrong?

Using Firefox 2 & IE 7….
but, switching from my PCI gigabit adapter to the internal NIC fixed the problem. I remember have similar issues with other daemon/server type apps that perform better when using the internal NIC as the primary adapter.

If iTunes work and FirePlay doesn’t, it’s usually because RSP is not up. iTunes uses DAAP-protocol and FirePlay uses the Roku Server Protocol (RSP).
What response do you get if you browse to “http://yourserver:9999/rsp/info” ?/Bo
28/05/2008 at 1:48 PM #14035AnonymousInactiveExcellent job, this makes my Firefly server much more useful. Is there any word on how soon the shuffle/random button will be working? I am using v.87 and the button between repeat and Album-Que-Playlist (presumably shuffle/random) does not work. I apologize if this has been answere elsewhere.

Do you get to the FirePlay interface at all, or is it just a blank page?
Do you get a password dialog when browsing to “http://server:9999/FirePlay.html”?
You say that you’re connected to “http://server:9999” is this in the browser address bar or in the FirePlay interface? In FirePlay it should say “Connected to Firefly Media Server” in your case.

No, it’s not in the adress bar. It’s in the interface. And it was not connected to the Firefly Media Server. It’s says connecting to http://server:9999/FirePlay.html. I didn’t realise that until today.
Any how. I have done some more testing now. First I unistalled the Firefly and installed the svn1586 version. Just to be shure that the problem wasn’t the Firefly. This version behaved in the same way.
I use to make websites a lot so I have different browsers installed for testing purpose. On the laptop from where I’m trying to get it to work I have IE 6 installed. That’s where the problem is. I tried Firefox and also Opera and both workes perfect. Maybe it’s a known problem with IE 6, but i haven’t read all 52 pages in the forum.
Is there a solution to this?
It also work’s on my own webserver (RaidenHTTPD) if I run it locally. Not from the Internet yet. I can connect to the interface but it will not connect to the Firefly Media Server.

It seems the first XML-request does not get answered. That is, the /rsp/info-request. Do you run an updated Flash-player on that IE6-instance?

I did the update now to the latest version from 9,0,45,0. The problem is still there.
I tried it in IE 7 now and that works also fine. So it’s just IE 6…
