I can connect to firefly with no problems from xbmc. And I can view play lists and the library. The second i select any of the songs and try to play them, xbmc freezes. Most songs I have are FLAC, but the same behavior exists with other formats (mp3).

Here are the logs from a -d8, when xbmc connects

There is no output in the logs when xbmc tries to play a song.
tcpdump doesn’t pick anything up either.

I am running a build of xbmc from Jan 27 2007.

I’ll try upgrading to a newer version if I can find one, and post my results. Does anyone else have a similar problem?[/quote]

I have done what most have described w/ one of the latest builds of XBMC, nightly of firefly, port 3689, updated my sources.xml on the xbox and config file of FF.

    Firefly Test daap://172.31.2.21:3689

I get the cannot connect to network server as soon as a select it. I’m running a windows box, and using a smb share just fine to the machine:

    Ken's Music Folder smb://UN:[email protected]/Music/

Any suggestions where I’m going wrong? And/or if type that daap URL on another machine, just opens iTunes and sits, but asks for a UN/PW

Do you have a password set? Very likely xmbc wont support password protected shares.

I actually caught myself just as I posted this, but even when off, doesn’t seem to ‘think’ anymore and fails instantly. Did what another suggested and made that the port 3689 was forwarded to this machine. Like I mentioned I have multiple maps to this machine smb wise, but daap:// isn’t having it.

On my laptop, I’m also able to access the config page, so it’s somewhat visible.

Even after rebooting the xbox? I found that if you made any changes with daap, you had to restart the xbox, as it seems to cache state — like once it’s failed to connect to a daap share (like, laptop lid closed or something) then it would never try to connect again.

I will try that when I get back, but I was also looking around for any information on the client PW in the adv. config, would there need to be anything specified in the xbmc xml w/ pw? and/or do I even have to specify the port for the daap share?

Also, if another person on my LAN had iTunes open, the share would show up as ‘Firefly Media Server’ as it sounds, right?

I don’t think you have to specify a port, as xbmc appears to ignore it anyway, always using 3689.

I’m not sure that it works with a pw at all, but if it did, it might be daap://anyusername:[email protected]:3689/. I’d get it working without it first, then see what happens.

On windows, the default share name is indeed “Firefly Media Server”

I just tried the latest nightly (1528) and playlists show up in XBMC but smart playlists don’t.

Another bug is when viewing firefly from itunes, if you create a playlist, you lose smart playlists.

Not sure if these 2 problems are related.

edit: the smart playlists I’m talking about are the itunes ones such as “recently added”.

I’ve noticed that too, and put it in the nightlies feedback, but noticed if you do a Full Scan they seem to show back up on the web config and iTunes share

I didn’t know what you were saying on the other thread.

Can you give me a step-by-step on how to replicate it?
