ParticipantHey all you Slug gurus.. I have a question which is off topic here and may or may not be appropriate for discussion. If not I apologize in advance.
Can the Slug be used to pull videos and pictures of its attached HDD for viewing on a TV through a device like a Tivo or Appple TV. I dont think the ATV will work given its Itunes.centric approach but I know the Tivo will support most video formats and otherwise will allow you to watch videos on a computer in the network.
Thanks
Dave

I believe that the tivo uses a upnp server of some type, so at some point, it may.

ParticipantThank Ron, I will assume that it will take the talent of some individual to put together the necessary package to upload to the Slug and make it work.

ParticipantWell, there are many many media browser devices available.
– Pinnacle Showcenter 200 / 1000
– Netgear EVA700 / 8000
– I-O Data LinkPlayer
– Buffalo LinkTheater
– Snazio Net Cinema
– H&B DNX-8620
– Quartek WHD-500
– Quartek I-Box 800
– Transgear DVX 700
– Transgear DVX 500
– Omisys DVD PN210V
– DigitalRise Xstream Player(most of the list ripped blatantly off http://wizd.sf.net )
There are many many servers that run on the slug. I am serving to a Showcenter 200, and I use wizd. (Although its only one of many alternatives. http://swisscenter.co.uk http://www.oxyl.de just to name a few)
Wizd also allows me to serve big files (>2GB) without a hitch. And the slugs performance is decent enough to allow HDTV stuff. -
