Strangely, that sounds like a firewall issue on the DNS-323. Is there any kind of firewalling on that machine?
Also, it might be worth setting a logfile in the admin page, cranking hte debug level up to 9, and trying to connect, just to see what it logs — maybe something strange is happening when it connects that will show up int he logs.
