GuestIf I import my 5000+ mp3 collection (i.e. point FF at it) but I’ve got a load of missing tags, will subsequently fixing the tags cause duplicate entries in the FF database? By missing tags it could be track, artist, album at least
What I want to do is do a mass scan and then identify the bad ones with iTunes and then sort the tags out.
or is it best to sort them all out first?
thanks!

Participantnah, that would work with iTunes.
at a “full rescan” the song DB is wiped out and rebuilt from scratch. So no duplicate entries.

I’ve got used to using Tag&Rename –
My process is :
1. Get all the tags right based on an FreeDB or Amazon search (auto from T&R)
2. Once tags are right, do a mass rename (auto from T&R)The tag part unfortunately is per album or group of and is dependent on good rips (FreeDB search is done by length of track and number of I think) and Amazon search allows downloading and embedding of album art). I sometimes need to dive in and manually tag but generally T&R is really good at it.
Any new rip I do or get now I do this process, it’s just all the old stuff I’ve got of which some is not well ripped, thats just takes a bit more time.
It can be painful but very satisfying to see more and more of my music being properly tagged and named 🙂
