I’ve read posts that show that it’s possible to create a smart playlist that filters by path.

I’ve tried entering this in the smart playlist page in the web interface, but either nothing happens, or it makes mt-daapd unresponsive.

    I’ve tried:

    path includes “/steve”
    path includes “/steve”/
    path includes “/steve”

    None of ’em work…..

Am I doing something wrong or is this functionality just not operational right now?

    Cheers.

    The last one should work.

Right now, the smart playlist stuff isn’t very friendly. A bad playlist will crash the thing, and it doesn’t give any kind of error messages or warnings about whats wrong, etc.

That’s the target of the database re-write this weekend — to help fix some of those problems.

WRT your specific problem, I just added on like this:

    path includes “/Morrissey”

and that seems to work okay. You might want to start up the server and delete any questionable smart playlists using the web interface before you connect — otherwise, it will crash the server. Then try adding it again, and seeing what that does.

Otherwise, give me a week or so, and we’ll see if I can get something less error prone done.

Thanks again Ron – seems to have worked this time.

Look forward to the new db 🙂
