Well for some strange reason, my post to the NSLU-Linux group has just shown up at the top of a Google search:
    http://www.nabble.com/IPKG-stopped-working–t2720687.html
    It wasn’t rejected after all.
I’m still none the wiser though…

Ohh apparently somebody had pulled the power on my router, so the settings had been messed up. Corrected it, and now it works fine.
Thanks for the ping tip! I hope you solve your problem 🙂

Cheers Griffer, I’ve got it now:
The very first reply from Robert Hammond worked.
    ie:

    ln -s /opt/bin/wget /bin/wget
    chmod 0777 /bin/wget

I don’t know why it changed as I certainly hadn’t fiddled with anything, but there you go.

I guess that’s two happy slug owners again!

Sorry for harping on, but I’m pretty happy with myself.
None of you will remember that I could never get Nano, or Joe or Vi working on my Slug – I never figured out why. But I just tried the trick I learnt above and applied it Vi, and it works! I can now edit the conf file directly on the slug without having to copy it to a PC first.

I did try Nano first, and it started to work, but then quit with an error about a missing library.

Anyway, I’ll shut up now, but hopefully this may help someone else.
    😀
