I’ve just set up an NSLU2 as a server, and it’s great. I have a Roku M1000 to play to my stereo, and it’s also great. But my database is not working as well as I would like. Under “genre” on the Roku, I only see numbers. Presumably, these are the numbers that correspond to the genre, but they are not being recognized as such. Also, I’m using Grip to rip my CD’s and it can produce and SQL database, but I’m not sure if it used or usefull. It seems like it’s got more data in it than the tracks (which are ogg). Can anyone just point me a some place to read more about this?
Thank

It sounds like you have an older version. The nightlies have a sql backend now, and most of the genre-conversion stuff works fine now.
Right now isn’t the time to upgrade to nightlies, as they are in a pretty fair amount of flux, but if you give it a week there will be stable nightlies again.
There are instructions for upgrading to nightlies on the nslu2 on http://wiki.fireflymediaserver.org

In fact, I do have a nightly, I think it’s svn-1659-1. I had to install it to get my ogg files to play on my Roku, and now they do, so I think I got it right. I got it about a week ago. Maybe the nightlies were in a state of flux then as well?
Thanks
