    What´s wrong ? Thanks !

It looks like either your default gateway is wrong on the network setting page, or your dns server entries are wrong. Have you set the thing up for DHCP, or is it static?

If DHCP, and your router is handing out dhcp, then it’s probably okay. If static, then check that your gateway and dns are set to the ip of your router, that’s probably what you should be using as a gateway and as dns.

You can verify that by checking the network settings on your pc (which presumably can get to the internet).

Do a “ipconfig /all” on the windows pc (from a dos prompt), and set your network settings for gateway and dns server based on that.

I use a static adress for NSLU like 192.168.xxx.xx. I disabled DHCP on my router.

Using this static adress i get the connection to the NSLU. Windows shows the NSLU and the HD under “lokal network connections”.

Should i enable DHCP on my router and on the NSLU ?

You need to set the gateway in your network settings on the slug in the web admin pages.

Check that the gateway IP and DNS is set to point at your router.

I´ve set the DNS Server Primary in NSLU menu by using the ip adress of the router. Then i started get this

    Assuming your router is 192.168.1.1
    and the slug is 192.168.1.77
then you need to have the following …

    IP Address: 192.168.1.77
    Network Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Gateway: 192.168.1.1

    DNS Server

    Primary: 192.168.1.1

    Best of luck.

    Great ! Thanks a lot !

Everything seems to be installed on the NSLU 2.

My Pinnacle SB M1001 is connected with FF, but i can´t an access to the configuration side of FF.

How can open the firefly-configuration page ? Is there no web-configuration possible (like Twonkys: My IP:9000/configpage/index.htm) ?

    My IP:3689 (or 3698) doesn´t work.

The answer after trying “/opt/etc/mt-daapd/mt-mdaapd.conf” (over Telnet) is “access denied”.

    Thanks again !

There is, and it lives at port 3689. So http://192.168.1.77:3689 should work, (assuming the ip address of your slug is 192.168.1.77).

If you install nano (ipkg install nano), you can edit the config file using nano by doing:

    # nano /opt/etc/mt-daapd/mt-daapd.conf

But it’s far easier to use the web config. You can also drop by #mt-daapd on freenode, if I’m by my computer, I’m there, and I can try and help that way.

    I don´t understand what´s going on…

After 3 restarts the NSLU reacts after “NLSU IP:3689” and i shall give the username and the password, but the device doesn´t accept root/password oder other user/password.

If i make a login on the NSLU2 with “NSLU IP” and the same user names/password the NSLU2 coniguration menu appears. ❓

    “nano …” doesn´t work – the file isn´t there.

Ok – i can open the configuration.

The password ist mt-daapd – not very difficult but difficult enough if you don´t know it… I had to read a lot of long threads…

But who ist surpristed – i have the next problem:

Is it right that the music files must be in the folder “share/hdd/data/public/mp3” ?

I can see the data-folder under windows network-connections, but i can´t open the data-folder, because i shall not be authorized to open this folder.

Please help me to unravel this next mystery !

If this is the right folder, is it possible to copy all my files per drag and drop into this folder ?

Thanks fo your patience – i fell ashamed…

When browsing the share under Windows, it is authentiicated as a user on the Slug.

You can set this on the Slug in the Administration tab of the web interface
on my machine this is http://192.168.1.77/Management/file_sharing.cgi?next_file=users.htm

Yes, you can then browse to \slugDISK 1mp3 to copy your files across.

The Slug has backup/Synchroinise options as well to do this. http://192.168.1.77/Management/sh_backup.cgi?next_file=backup.htm Click “Add Job” to see options
