visibility in itunes?

iTunes does not find the mt-daapd server on my server.
Only if i start iTunes first and then give mt-daapd a restart it is shown.

I am using ubuntu server (hardy). I installed mt-daapd via apt-get. In the admin webinterface is says it is based on svn-1696 .

What steps do i need to take to have itunes detect mt-daapd when i start itunes again. I hate to login to my server to restart mt-daapd every time i want to play music 🙁

That seems to be an issue with multicasts / anycasts on your network.
mt-daapd usually announces itself periodically over the network, but apparently there is a problem with your config.

Did you configure avahi on ubuntu properly? Or is the avahi daemon even started?
