Can somebody help a bit of a linux newbie with this? If I’m not mistaken, it looks like a standard “apt-get install mt-daapd” will pull in 1376 and getting it from the testing or unstable distributions pulls in 1696. Is there a way to get 1586 via apt-get?

    Not really.

The easy way is to wget the .deb file, or just download it and then

    sudo dpkg -i /path/to/mt-daapd-file-version-blabla.deb

Thanks, I gave it a try last night and found that “apt-get install mt-daapd” brought in 1696. I’ll give it a try it and see if it works better for me than 1596 has. I was running 1596 on a WD Mybook WEII and this new install is on a P4 with plenty of memory, so maybe it will be good.

I’ve had 1586 and 1696 running for more than 100 days straight on my NSLU2. So you should be good 🙂

Correct. Me too. All problems I’ve had (and I suspect am having) is due to failing hard drives. They’re just not made to run 24/7 for a year or so. 🙂
