Firefly svn-1463 works fine on a Iomega Storcenter running Openprotium (SlugOS derivative). The processor is a MPC8241 (powerpc 603e with FPU) running at 200 MHz. I have never seen CPU usage go over 23% while transcoding ogg vorbis files on the fly. This load is sufficiently low not to require the the Storcenter’s very noisy fan to spin.
The “oggdec” process runs until about 5 seconds before the end of the track. A new “oggdec” process is spawn before the end of the current track which ensures that the tracks are played without gaps.
