If I remember correctly, this was no problem until some time ago (don’t ask me whether I changed something in the character-set-settings on my system – at least I don’t think that I did).
Now any title containing a german Umlaut (äÄöÖüÜß) is skipped. I changed some titles (ä -> ae etc.) and the problem was gone. Still some remaining files are left for documentation here (“St??ck” should read “Stück”):
Log file: firefly.log2007-06-20 14:59:11 (e33ca64f): Firefly Version svn-1586: Starting with debuglevel 2
……2007-06-20 14:59:42 (e33ca64f): Cannot read FLAC metadata from H:AUDIOKinderKinder2005Janna2005St??ck_3Schaefer.flac
2007-06-20 14:59:42 (e33ca64f): Skipping H:AUDIOKinderKinder2005Janna2005St??ck_3Schaefer.flac – scan failed
….2007-06-20 14:59:47 (e33ca64f): Scanned 3252 songs (was 3252) in 30 seconds
Any Idea?Thanks in advance

Which OS are you running?
And what version of firefly are you running? The paths indicate its some brand of Windows – which one?
Where does your music reside? On a local drive or a shared network drive?
In the latter case, what kind of device is this?
What filesystem do you use to store your music?20/06/2007 at 4:39 PM #11234beluParticipantGruß zurück!
Ooooops – I forgot:
WinXPSp2, local Drive, NTFS – that’s it.
The FF-Version is the latest (see the log-file excerpt).BeLu

That particuliar file played fine before?
Did you try a full rescan?20/06/2007 at 8:53 PM #11236beluParticipantIf I remember correctly I had no scan-problems some time ago (and the files played well).
When I discovered the problem recently, I tried rescan etc. …. but nothing changed 🙁The easy — but not very elegant — solution is, of course, to avoid these characters in pathnames. So there is no really big problem….

Path stuff is about to all change on next nightly, so I’ll hang on that until next nightly.
