Hello,
I’ve freshly reinstalled my NSLU with OpenSlug and reinstalled mt-daapd (with ipkg). I’ve configured the stuff (only admin_pwd and path for mp3s). When I start my iTunes, it saw the mt-daapd server, I try to start it, a window open and iTunes is grabbing some infos and exiting after 1 second (same behavior on another pc that was working with preceeding mt-daapd). I’ve tried to disable firewall, but same. No error in log file on NSLU, mt-daapd server is working fine, my Roku can play music from it.iTunes is version 7.02 on new PC and 7.01 on the old one that was working.
Thanks for any advice.
By the way I don’t completely understand the difference between Firefly Media Server and mt-daapd ? My web interface is the same as before ….

Well that seems weird. I take it you have loaded the daap.so ?
So maybe your soundbridge is really playing the RSP share, not the iTunes one…?20/12/2006 at 11:55 AM #8056yetiGuest– I’ve only basically installed mi-daapd with ipkg from my NSLU, no other installtion
– Nothing else done on NSLU (no installed any .so) – I suppose the daapd.so is for NSLU ?
– Forgotten : my pc running iTunes is under win xp– Before this install (ipkg) – somme wweks ago – Roku was seeing the server but crashin when opening, now it’s ok …
– I’m sure that it is the mt-daapd serverMy present problem is iTunes as client …. And no idea where to search the problem …
Thanks

RegardsThe best way to troubleshoot is to set a logfile in the config, and run it with a debuglevel of -9 (/opt/sbin/mt-daapd -d9 -c /opt/etc/mt-daapd/mt-daapd.conf).
Then look at the lasts lines in the log file and that might help find out what’s going on. If not, then post the last 10 or 15 lines, and we might be able to figure it out from there.

Another simple question : my mt-daapd is installed in /usr/sbin and config in /etc. Is that configurable or it is so in package ? (I’ve used the ipkg standard on OpenSlug).
Thanks for your help.

That’s it — 0.2.3 doesn’t work with iTunes 7. You need 0.2.4 for that. Unfortunately, there isn’t a 0.2.4 in openslug. Not sure why – probably because most folks using the slug for a general purpose file server are using unslung or debonaras. Not sure.
I don’t have an openslug build tree, but you might be able to hunt down a version of nightlies. I know there are some folks running it as part of other packages, like the hal project.
You might be able to get binaries there.

22/12/2006 at 7:45 AM #8060yetiGuestOk, many thanks.
Now I undersand, I was previously using Unlsung, so automatically 0.2.4. And now with a simple ipks I’ve 0.2.3 (I haven’t chec versions …).
I will try your advice.
Thanks22/12/2006 at 9:28 PM #8061yetiGuestThanks a lot for your work, it is working perfectly now.
I’ve used the package on nlsu2 website for target optware_nslu2_cross_stable and it is working on OpenSlug.
I’ve to change the user from guest to nobody and some stuff for autostart, and now playing music !
Bye
