Hi Bo,
A sort of random request here.. is it possible to modify the Search function to accept queries to return multiple artists? For example: (“Gogol Bordello” OR “Octopus Project”).
I would imagine the code might be a bit hairy to pull this off but it would be cool to be able to do this without hard coding FireFly playlists.
Just a thought.
And a good one. I implemented an “or:ed” search. Separate your search terms by space and they are all gonna be searched for. No support for “-marks and OR/AND keywords yet though…
EDIT: Wohoo, 200 posts!

An interesting idea for you. How about using the LastFm Audioscrobbler webservices to display the the album cover?
You can find the services here:
http://www.audioscrobbler.net/data/webservices/
Here is the XML for Nickel Creek/This Side
http://ws.audioscrobbler.com/1.0/album/Nickel+Creek/This+Side/info.xml
from which you can extract the cover

Not everyone would want audioscrobbler to see all music they play.
29/12/2007 at 4:29 PM #13804IrisParticipantOR, as VisualMR for the Roku does for those not familiar:
Since it too doesn’t know the location of the music file it allows you to specify a common directory where art work is stored in the format _.jpg. It queries that directory then as each track is played. It does also default to Amazon.com for art work if no directory is specified but I have found that what it retrieves is accurate most of the time, it does fetch the wrong album cover occasionally. I use MediaMonkey to export all my artwork in this format to a common directory that VisualMR uses – works fantastic!

This would only be to fetch album art, not record what is being played..!

Well, if you send a request about the album art, you pretty much disclose what you are listening to. But itäs a nice idea, I’ll look into it.

works great.
But i suggest to put the coverart not in the top of the FirePlay. a better place and more itunish 😉 is at the left bottom.
And maybe you shouldn’t using text for: “no album art” because the grey background doesn’t looks that nice ;-). how about using an icon from the nuvola iconset (http://icon-king.com/?p=15) or oxygen iconset(http://icon-king.com/?p=34). These iconsets are licensed under Creative Common Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 License or GNU Library General Public License, which should make it possible to use them free.
oh and is it a bug that replay doesn’t work or isn’t this feature implemented at the moment.
Greetz and Happy new year

You’ve been working hard. This is fantastic!
I would agree with Osik about the position. Bottom left is better. This is where most players put the art.
I have produced another mockup. Notice I have extended the playlist area to fill the gap.
I need to think a little more about the “no cover” issue. Most players either display a blank CD or some text. I think I prefer text as a CD is not very representative. We could also use the text to explain why the cover is missing (e.g. get your tags sorted out!). I will go away for a bit and think.
EDIT
How about this for no cover.
