Is there any benefit to not turning on the plugin for daap? Are there any drawbacks other than iTunes not seeing Firefly?
I guess I am assuming it is turned on by default, if so how do I turn it off if Iwanted to?

You can move it out of the plugins directory (or name it something other than .dll or .so or .dylib).
Really, the only reason to do that might be if you were only serving a soundbridge. Or were going to hook it up in a car or something like that, where you wanted to make it as slim as possible.
