right, so I updated to 1939, added

    [database]
    quick_start = 1

    and now Im waiting.
What i noticed is that I dont get the “Initializing database” in the log. So far. πŸ˜‰

    edit:
now its complaining about db version, and initializing it anyway πŸ˜‰

oh, besides: I realized a lot of songs.db-[randomglibberish] in my db directory. A full rescan could wipe these out, couldn’t it ?

It will still do the stuff it has to — if the db isn’t there it will still create it, or if the db is empty, it will still to a full rescan at start, just won’t do it if the db is already “right” and populated.

Yes, the randoms are transaction logs from crashed sessions. Probably from buggy 1313. πŸ™‚

    Hi Ron:

I just installed svn-1393 on my NSLU2 and clicked through the web admin pages. A couple of minor missed things (even though the site is working fine):

(when accessing the Server Status page – using Firefox 1.5.0.7 if that matters)
    2006-10-15 07:20:17 (0000e404): Cannot resolve /opt/share/mt-daapd/admin-root//index.css
    2006-10-15 07:20:17 (0000e404): Thread 54: Entering ws_returnerror (404: Not found)

    (when accessing the Thanks page)
    2006-10-15 07:30:19 (00051004): Cannot resolve /opt/share/mt-daapd/admin-root/CREDITS

Ah… thanks… forgot to add those to the package. I’ll have it next nightly.

Thanks Ron, I know these are cosmetic, but I thought I’d better post them while you were still working on the new build mechanism.

More importantly, I just re-tested the full scan on my library (I have quite a lot of WMA files of various vintages) with svn-1393, and it is still looping for me as follows:

    2006-10-15 09:05:42 (00000400): Found music file: Australian Crawl - 01 - Beautiful People.wma

    ...etc until I kill mt-daapd

Please let me know if you need me to email you that file. It has been in my library for a long time, and has previously re-scanned successfully in mt-daapd/Firefly. It only started looping after the most recent rewrite of the WMA tag scanning code, but is definitely still doing so with svn-1393 (on my NSLU2 at least).

    Ron/Ted,

I see the same wma looping on the first wma file it encounters:

.. and then its off, repeating the same sequence until I kill it.

The worrying thing is that I sent Ron the music file and it
ran fine on his Slug. I wonder whether its a subtle bug that’s
related to the Slug firmware or O/S.
I’m running Unslung 5.5 but i notice that version 6.8
    is now the preferred version:
