I’m not sure who maintains the http://www.fireflymediaserver.org website, however someone should nudge that person (or persons) to create an alias for fireflymediaserver.org Alot of people (myself included) rarely type (most sites have aliases in place) in the www in front of the server name prior to visiting a website. fireflymediaserver.org currently displays a page quoting a line from a movie. That might confuse some visitors that don’t type in the “full” url.
example links:
http://www.fireflymediaserver.org
http://fireflymediaserver.orgThanks!

I’ve just created an account here….. so I’m off to create an account on “the other side” to tell someone that a redirect is better than a movie quote…. sigh… I suppose that I’ll end up needing an account over there as well after my “surprise” christmas present. heh heh

Patrick did indeed register it, but he’s delegated dns to servers under my control.
I’d make the argument that the address of that web page is “www.fireflymediaserver.org”, and that going to a different page shouldn’t necessarily send to the page you intended, but rather the page that is there. For example, http://www.google.com doesn’t send you to the firefly page either. π
That said, I did bow to the inevitable and made fireflymediaserver.org a serveralias for http://www.fireflymediaserver.org.
Please don’t bug Patrick on this, he’ll likely just get annoyed with me. π

I see that it’s “fixed”. I agree with your assessment of getting redirected to google.com, however, unfortunatly it seems to have become common practice, expected almost, even at sites close to home…
