yup. for those who dont want to rely on those features, and prefer straight forward file tree browsing, I got a structure in my DAP like this



MUSIC

+--- A-F

+---Artist A

+----Album 1

+----Album 2

+---Artist B

+---Artist F

+-- G-O

+----Artist G

etc.
This makes it kinda fast, on, say, rockbox.
