I’m running Firefly on a Ubuntu 8.04 server and have installed FirePlay also. When I browse to the FirePlay page from a remote location on the internet, it will only load if the Firefox browser does not have Google Toolbar enabled. If Google Toolbar is enabled, FirePlay loads a blank screen, Firefly crashes and I have to SSH in and restart it.

Here’s the troubleshooting I’ve done so far.
Connect thru local LAN w/ Firefox 3.0.1 (all add-ons) – works.
Connect thru internet w/ Firefox 3.0.1 (all add-ons) – crash.
    Connect thru internet w/ IE7 – works.
Connect thru internet w/ Firefox 3.0.1 (no add-ons) – works.
Tried turning on all add-ons one at a time
Connect thru internet w/ Firefox 3.0.1, only Google Toolbar add-on – crash
Connect thru internet w/ Firefox 3.0.1. all add-ons except Google Toolbar – works.

What is it about doing this inside the LAN vs. outside that makes a difference? So far I’ve tried this with two computers using Google Toolbar 3 and 5.

    Strange. Very strange.
I wouldn’t believe it, but seeing how much you tested there’s nothing else to blame but the google toolbar.
I wouldn’t suspect the google toolbar to interfere with the webpage at all.

The biggest problem would be to find out what google toolbar does which makes fireplay and/or firefly crash..

In case it helps in diagnosing the problem, here’s the end of the Firefly log after a crash.

One other bit of information reinforcing the Google Toolbar hypothesis is that I used the Prism add-on to make an “app” for FirePlay and have it without any navigation bar or toolbars. In that configuration from the internet, FirePlay plays OK even when Firefox is simultaneously running with the Google Toolbar enabled.

Switched from Ubuntu 8.04 Server to Ubuntu 8.10 Desktop and this problem went away. Must have been some component missing from the Server installation that it needed.
