After a night of searching and finding nothing that could help me, I reach out to the experts.
I run into a problem with the mp3 scanning when I try to start mt-daapd. This is my output:

AbortingI can view the DAAP server via another computer, but, obviously, there are no songs in it.
I use Ubuntu Feisty and have full ability to play mp3s in rhythmbox if these relate (gstreamer0.8-plugins).
Anybody have an idea what the problem is?
are you sure your avahi-daemon is running?
The port is already in use, so maybe you are restarting an instance of mt-daapd, or have other DAAP servers running (banshee, rhythmbox?)Other than that, mt-daapd runs as nobody/nobody. So make sure that user has read access to the mp3 files, and read & execute to the directory tree beneath your music_dir 😉
