    Hi

    I would appreciate any help on this problem. Firefly is aborting under Windows XP as follows:

    I have checked that Firefly is registered as an exclusion to the Windows Firewall and it is. Also I have checked the share permissions on the iTunes music file and these are set to share.

    I run McAfee and tried switching this off, but it keeps re-starting. In any event I can’t keep my virus checker switched off permanently.

    Any advice greatly appreciated as to how to fix this.

    One other more minor query: Where does iTunes keep its playlists ? I would like to declare this file to Firefly as a “Play List File” within Firefly’s “Configuration” panel.

    Latest nightlies have an updated database that works harder to avoid the virus scanner problems. You can get it at http://nightlies.mt-daapd.org.

    WRT to playlists, it is in the “iTunes Music Library.xml” file, which should be in your “My Music” folder. If you add that folder as a music directory using hte web interface, it should pick up the itunes playlists.

    Thanks very much for this.

    I have installed the 1498 version you recommended and (touch wood; touches head) it has now been running for over twenty minutes without aborting. Thanks.

    However, I am still struggling a bit to add the iTunes playlist file to Firefly. Thanks to your help I located it as “D:My DocumentsMy MusiciTunesiTunes Music Library”. However, when I try to add this as an additional Music Folder through Configuration in Web Admin I am getting an “error on page”. I have tried adding “.xml” to the above, but still get this error message. Clearly its something fairly small I am doing wrong. Can you advise, please.

    I have fixed the last element of my query re playlists. I moved the iTunes music file back to the location as iTunes is storing its playlists (D:My DocumentsMy MusiciTunes) and pointed Firefly back to this same location. In this way I avoided declaring a further Music Folder to Firefly, which seemed to be causing an “error on page” for some reason.

    Firefly has now picked up all iTunes playlists.

    Looks like my celebrations wre slightly premature.

    Firefly has picked up all the music tracks OK and all the playlists from iTunes, but the Firefly versions of the playlists are shown empty, despite the iTunes versions (both fixed and smart) being full.

    Why should this be ?

    Not sure, because it should. Force it to do a full rescan, or a couple more background rescans and see if they appear. There was some messing with playlist handling that might cause it to take a couple scans before it settles down.

    If not, then I’d like to see your logfile to see whats happening. If you coule push your debuglevel in the web admin to 9, then force a full scan, and zip and email your firefly.log (from c:program filesfirefly media server) to [email protected], then I wouldn’t mind taking a look at it.

    Hi Ron

    On checking the Firefly playlists this morning, I find that they are now populated.

    I assume, as you indicated, Firefly needs a few runs before it settles down.

    I attach my log file below. I see it is flagging up a number of problems. Is this something I should deal with ?

    Nope, these are normal. The are really just reminders to me to add support for that new metadata.
