I hope someone can help…PLEASE!!! I have successfully unslung and I even loaded the mt-daapd package (I installed the stable version then uninstalled and installed the nightly version I think I really don’t know what version I have at this point) however I am unable to access the web interface for firefly and have confirmed that firefly is not starting.

The reason for firefly not starting, from what I have read on the forums, is that it is unable to find the the share directory (/share/hdd/data/public).

The reason for this is that I have unslung to port 2 which is probably referred to as the flash port and not the hdd port even though I have a 500gig Maxtor III USB 2.0 attached (formatted ext3 correctly).

I think I can fix this problem if I were able to just edit the darn config file but since I can’t access the web interface this is proving to be an impossibel task. I have tried in vain for the past 6 hours to get this working. I even tried the vi editor in telnet and that was an utter nightmare. I may have corrupted the config file by just closing out the telnet session since I could not get out of vi.

If anyone can help I would really appreciate it. The end goal is to get this thing working with my Roku soundbridges but I have to get the server to work correctly first.

Uninstall whatever you have with “ipkg remove mt-daapd”. Make sure everything is stopped with “killall -9 mt-daapd”. Delete your existing config file with “rm -rf /opt/etc/mt-daapd”. Then “ipkg update” and “ipkg install mt-daapd”.

It should install svn-1498. Then start it with “/opt/etc/init.d/S60mt-daapd”. Wait for it to finish scanning. It may take some time, but it will pop up in iTunes (or the soundbridge). Don’t panic. It sometimes takes a while to scan the music.

Once it appears in the soundbridge, you should be able to get into the web interface.

Thank you for your help. I ended up removing the old config and files again then downloaded the nightly build using instructions from the wiki page and was able to access the configuration interface.

Now I am playing MP3s from my slug to the soundbrige. Time to start ripping my CD into Flac and let the musical enjoyment begin!!!

The root problem was a typo in the repo path… it’s ipkg.fireflymediaserver.org, and you had ipkg.fierflymediaserver.org. 🙂
