Hi There!
I Installed avahi and mt-daapd (from latest edgy-deb, I am running edgy). The server seems to work find, it scans the mp3s and I can get on the web-server. However, Rendezvous does not seem to work – I can’t get a connection from iTunes.
On Debug-Level 7, I get this listing – perhaps it can help fix the problem :/

12/02/2007 at 6:02 PM #9137DeadPoetParticipantSo, I read a bit in the forum, and got to this topic:
http://forums.fireflymediaserver.org/viewtopic.php?t=5575
Both links won’t work in my browser – even though the admin interface is running. Just thought this additional information might help.12/02/2007 at 7:12 PM #9138fizzeParticipantwell, it seems that mt-daapd is announcing itself via builtin mDNS rather than to the avahi.
So that wont work, Im afraid. ๐Either shut down avahi-daemon or grab a version of mt-daapd that is linked against avahi.
12/02/2007 at 9:21 PM #9139DeadPoetParticipantThanks for your quick reply!
I now tried uninstalling avahi (which worked ๐ ). But still FireFly/mt-daap is not working for me in iTunes :/
When I try to access:
http://192.168.178.23:3689/databases
I get a 404 and the log registers:2007-02-12 22:15:51 (b6c87ba0): Cannot resolve /share/mt-daapd/admin-root//databases
Here again is the startup with debug level 7

My config file looks normal. THis is the version I used: http://nightlies.mt-daapd.org/dl.php?FILE=mt-daapd_0.9-svn-1498_edgy_i386.deb

There are two things wrong — one is that it’s using the built-in mdns rather than avahi, which is a packaging bug on my part. Don’t know how that happened — I’ll have to check the build logs.
The other part is that it seems like you must have either an old-style confgi (from 0.2.4) or you don’t have the plug-ins. You should have a section in your config like this:
[plugins]
plugin_dir = /usr/share/mt-daapd/plugins
If not, or if your config looks like:
mp3_dir /path/to/dir
servername mt-daapd
instead of:
[general]
mp3_dir = /path/to/dir
servername = mt-daapd
then try deleting your config, re-installing the mt-daapd package and then tweaking the resulting config.
Meanwhile, I’ll double-check teh build logs and see what’s up with not using avahi.
13/02/2007 at 1:05 AM #9141DeadPoetParticipantHey Ron!
Thanks a lot for this tip – it was indeed the plugin directory, which was in the config file without the /usr/ at the beginng – dont’ ask me why ๐
Now it works like a charm – so I’m glad after all that I switched from Windows to Linux…
Thanks a lot!
